Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large egg yolks
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions:
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy
Add the egg yolks and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, and mix well
Gradually add the all-purpose flour and salt to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms
Divide the dough into two equal portions and shape each into a log about 2 inches in diameter
Wrap the logs in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour until firm
Preheat your oven to 350F 175C
Slice the chilled dough logs into 1/4-inch thick rounds and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet
Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown
Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely
Once cooled, dust the French butter cookies with powdered sugar
Serve and enjoy
