Sweet and Salty Brownie Cookies

These brownie cookies combine rich chocolate flavor with the crunch of pretzels and walnuts for the perfect balance of sweet and salty.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped pretzels
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • Sea salt flakes, for sprinkling

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and butter together in 20-second increments, stirring until smooth

In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined

Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and stir until smooth and fully combined

Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt

Stir until just combined

Fold in the chopped pretzels and walnuts into the batter

Using a spoon or cookie scoop, drop spoonfuls of the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them a couple of inches apart

Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt flakes on top of each cookie

Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still slightly soft

Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely
